Who We Are

The Quaker Social Concerns Network was founded in Seattle in June, 2017, in response to the felt need for joint discussion and activity on social concerns among members of the Religious Society of Friends [popularly known as Quakers], especially across denominational lines and for those whose local worshiping communities were too small to organize formal committees to address the issues.

For several years the group consisted of representatives of University Friends Meeting and North Seattle Friends Church in Seattle, and Eastside Friends Meeting in Bellevue, with occasional participation by members of South Seattle Friends Meeting. In 2020, with most Friends’ gatherings being moved online, a representative of Tacoma Friends Meeting has joined. In April 2021 the meeting representatives formally laid down the network but this website will be maintained indefinitely and updated occasionally.
